David Molik

My engagement work focuses on building durable partnerships among universities, libraries, research communities, government organizations, and professional networks around scholarly communication, research data, and scientific infrastructure.

At Kansas State University, this includes collaborations that connect the Libraries with national and international communities such as AgBioData, the i5k Initiative, and the Bioeconomy Information Sharing and Analysis Center (BIO-ISAC). Through these partnerships, I contribute to research-data governance, standards development, workforce training, shared infrastructure planning, scholarly publishing, and community sustainability. My work with AgBioData has included consortium governance, working-group leadership, NSF-supported research coordination, and helping bring the community's annual workshop to Kansas State University Olathe.

I also co-founded Cyberbiosecurity Quarterly through a partnership between Kansas State University Libraries' New Prairie Press and BIO-ISAC, creating an open-access scholarly venue for an emerging interdisciplinary community. My professional engagement additionally includes editorial leadership, peer review, advisory-board service, conference and workshop organization, standards development, and leadership of training initiatives.

Across these activities, I approach engagement as reciprocal infrastructure-building: external communities gain access to K-State expertise and institutional capabilities, while K-State gains new collaborators, research opportunities, professional networks, and connections to evolving national and international practices.
