David Molik

David C. Molik is an Associate Professor and Department Head of the Open Publishing Exchange at Kansas State University Libraries. His work sits at the intersection of scholarly communication, research cyberinfrastructure, computational biology, and research data stewardship. He leads programs in open publishing, institutional repositories, open educational resources, research data management, and emerging research-information infrastructure while maintaining an active research and professional-service agenda.

His scholarship focuses on the systems, standards, and practices that enable research to be created, described, shared, preserved, evaluated, and reused at scale. Areas of particular interest include FAIR and AI-ready scientific data, scholarly publishing infrastructure, persistent identifiers and metadata, research information systems, biodiversity and agricultural genomics, cyberbiosecurity, and the sustainability of community research infrastructure.

Molik has held leadership roles in national and international communities including AgBioData, the i5k Initiative, BIO-ISAC, and research-data standards efforts. He is also a founding Co-Editor-in-Chief of Cyberbiosecurity Quarterly, published by New Prairie Press. Across these activities, his work emphasizes open, interoperable, sustainable, and community-governed research infrastructure.
