TEACHING
I am an experienced kinesiology and exercise science educator with more than a decade of university-level teaching across Kansas State University, Georgia State University, the University of New England, and Wichita State University. My teaching spans exercise physiology, strength and conditioning, biomechanics, anatomy and physiology, program design, human movement, pathophysiology, health and fitness, and professional preparation, delivered in both face-to-face and online formats.
My teaching emphasizes the translation of scientific concepts into practical application. I strive to help students understand not only the underlying physiology and principles of human movement, but also how to apply that knowledge in professional settings such as strength and conditioning, health and fitness, rehabilitation, and human performance. This approach includes applied laboratory experiences, case-based and problem-solving activities, contemporary technology, and opportunities for students to develop the skills and professional judgment needed beyond the classroom.
A major component of my work is also course and curriculum development. I have designed and redesigned courses across multiple institutions and currently contribute to the continued development of K-State’s exercise physiology laboratory curriculum, strength and conditioning coursework, and applied professional preparation experiences.
My teaching has consistently received strong student evaluations, including an average instructor-effectiveness rating of 4.7/5 at Kansas State University and 4.87/5 during my time at Georgia State University.
My goal as an educator is to create challenging, supportive, and relevant learning experiences that help students move from learning the science to thinking and acting like professionals.
