SERVICE & ENGAGEMENT
My engagement activities focus on extending kinesiology and exercise science beyond the classroom by connecting academic knowledge with professionals, prospective students, and the broader public. I regularly contribute to outreach and recruitment efforts representing K-State Kinesiology, discussing academic opportunities, career pathways, and experiential learning with prospective students and their families.
Professionally, I serve as a continuing education presenter for Exercise Etc., developing and delivering educational programs for health and fitness professionals on topics including strength and conditioning, functional aging, injury prevention, recovery, high-intensity interval training, and exercise for older adults. My continuing education work has included presentations and workshops for professional audiences across the United States. This engagement builds on earlier work providing applied performance education through Georgia State University's International Olympic Performance Training programs and workshops for fitness professionals.
I also contribute to public-facing science communication by serving as a subject-matter expert for national media. I have provided expertise on exercise physiology, strength, human performance, healthy aging, and physical activity for publications including National Geographic, TIME, and CNN. Across these activities, my goal is to make exercise science accessible, applicable, and meaningful outside the university, while strengthening connections among higher education, professional practice, and the communities we serve.
