William "Toby" Holmes

Dr. William T. "Toby" Holmes is a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Educational Leadership Department in the College of Education at Kansas State University. He is a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and a former teacher and school and district administrator in the Clark County School District in Las Vegas, Nevada, the fifth-largest school district in the U.S., where he had elementary, secondary, and district experience as both a teacher and an administrator. He is a leader in the field of Motivating Language Theory, a leadership communications theory, with over twenty publications and book chapters and over twenty regional, national, and international presentations on the subject. He is a highly sought-after reviewer for manuscripts and conferences and serves as the associate editor for Business and Professional Communications Quarterly as well as on the editorial board for the journals International Journal of Business Communications and the Journal of Educational Leadership Policy and Practice, located in New Zealand. Dr. Holmes is the program chair for the AERA Research on the Superintendency and the co-chair for the KSU Indigenous Faculty and Staff Alliance (IFSA).
