Tamara Bauer

Dr. Tamara Bauer is the inaugural Director of the Institute for Community Health and Well-Being at Kansas State University, housed within K-State's Office of External Engagement. In this role, she leads the development of an interdisciplinary institute that brings together faculty, students, extension, and community partners to strengthen health and well-being across Kansas — with a focus on building partnerships, supporting cross-sector collaboration, and translating research and community expertise into meaningful impact. Prior to this role, she served as Director of Leadership and Service Programs and Assistant Professor of Teaching at the Staley School of Leadership, where she led university-wide initiatives focused on leadership development, civic engagement, community-engaged learning, and belonging. With more than 20 years of experience in higher education, her career has been shaped by a commitment to connecting people, ideas, and resources to build healthier, more connected communities.
