Payton Dahmer

Dr. Dahmer teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in livestock evaluation, sheep and goat production, animal form and function, livestock nutrition, and undergraduate research within the Department of Animal Sciences and Industry at Kansas State University. His teaching program combines classroom instruction, hands-on laboratory experiences, and experiential learning opportunities designed to prepare students for careers in animal agriculture. Through his courses and leadership of nationally competitive livestock judging and meat animal evaluation teams, Dr. Dahmer emphasizes critical thinking, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills alongside technical knowledge of animal production systems. He is committed to creating learning environments that connect scientific principles with real-world application while fostering student growth, professional development, and industry engagement. In addition to classroom teaching, Dr. Dahmer mentors undergraduate researchers, advises undergraduate and graduate students, and provides experiential learning opportunities that help develop the next generation of leaders in animal agriculture.
