1_ Translation Theory as Architectural Method

Architecture has always been in a dance with other disciplines, and understanding the dynamics of those points of exchange can be more richly framed through the lens of translation theory. My interest is in developing this as a framework for architectural research of various types.

2_ Defining/Critically Engaging Architectural Tools

Within a dynamic and changing technological landscape, our collective understanding of architectural tools seems to be in flux, prompting a close inspection of what the tools of architecture have been, are and will become in the future. This line of inquiry is not so much about categorizing or cataloging architectural tools, but rather, defining the nature of these disciplinary instruments and understanding how they evolve and change. The goal is to develop a deep understanding that will foster increased agency on the part of all tool users.

3_ Exploring the Intersection of Architecture and Film

As part of the above listed interests, examining the intersection of architecture and film is a grounds of exploration for my research. In particular, examining the films of Charles and Ray Eames, the early moving-image work of Diller Scofidio + Renfro, and other intersections of the two language-mediums is of interest.
