SERVICE & ENGAGEMENT

My engagement activities focus on translating environmental biotechnology research into practical solutions for agriculture and environmental sustainability. I work across disciplinary and institutional boundaries to connect fundamental research on microbial processes with challenges including greenhouse gas mitigation, sustainable agricultural production, and water quality.

A major focus of this work is translating research on greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture into deployable mitigation strategies. Our research identifying conserved forage as a previously overlooked source of nitrous oxide has led to the development of a low-cost mitigation technology and associated patent applications. I engage with agricultural researchers, industry, producers, and other stakeholders to advance these technologies toward field implementation.

I also communicate environmental research to broader audiences through invited presentations, professional organizations, industry interactions, and public and agricultural media.
