At Kansas State University, Heather McCornack teaches across the areas of musical theatre, vocal performance, music history, movement, and wellness. Her courses have included Introduction to the Broadway Musical, History of Country Music, Opera Workshop, and Yoga for Restoration, offered in both online and in-person formats. She also serves as a music director and collaborative pianist for departmental productions and ensembles, guiding students in connecting vocal technique, musicianship, acting, movement, and storytelling. Her teaching emphasizes clear expectations, thoughtful preparation, artistic curiosity, and collaborative professionalism. Grounded in evidence-based vocal pedagogy and trauma-informed practices, she creates rigorous, supportive learning environments in which students can take creative risks, develop sustainable performance practices, and grow as confident, independent artists.
