FUNDING

My research focuses on developing and delivering interventions to promote physical activity and reduce sedentary behavior in a variety of populations. These interventions utilize my expertise in behavior change and integrate theory-based approaches to facilitate autonomous motivation and self-regulation in individuals and groups. A core goal of my research is to design effective, sustainable interventions that can be adopted and implemented in real-world settings to improve translation and have a significant public health impact. As director of the Physical Activity Intervention Research Laboratory, I have designed and implemented a series of behavioral interventions targeting various populations, including sedentary office-based employees, parents, military spouses, and college students. I also have considerable experience conducting mixed-methods research to understand and address key barriers and facilitators to healthy behaviors in my target populations. My most recent research focuses on integrating nature-based physical activity into mental healthcare by providing tailored training and resources for mental health providers.
