ABOUt

Amir A. Bahadori has served on the faculty of Kansas State University since 2015 and is currently a Professor in the Alan Levin Department of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering, where he also holds the Hal and Mary Siegele Professorship in Engineering. Since joining K-State, he has built a nationally visible research program at the intersection of nuclear engineering, radiation protection, human health, and space science, securing sustained extramural funding from NASA, the U.S. Department of Energy, and the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. His work has advanced radiation transport modeling, detector technologies, space and reactor-based irradiation capabilities, and data-driven radiation epidemiology, including leadership roles in the U.S. Million Person Study. Dr. Bahadori has played a central role in revitalizing and directing the Nuclear Engineering Program, leading a variety of interdisciplinary initiatives and infrastructure efforts. He has published extensively in high-impact journals, mentored a large cohort of graduate and undergraduate researchers who are establishing themselves as leaders in their organizations,, and provided sustained professional service at the national and international levels, including elected leadership within the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements and the American Nuclear Society.
