TEACHING
Dr. Teresa Douthit served in a 70% teaching and 30% research appointment in the Department of Animal Sciences and Industry from 2007 until becoming Interim Department Head in 2025. During that time, she taught a range of equine science and animal nutrition courses, including large foundational classes and advanced upper-level electives delivered in lecture, laboratory, online, and study-abroad formats.
She advised Animal Science and pre-veterinary students until academic advising was centralized at the college level, consistently earning advising evaluations above departmental, college, and university averages. Dr. Douthit also mentored numerous undergraduate research students, several of whom presented award-winning work in equine nutrition.
Her service to teaching included membership on the ASI Teaching Advisory Committee and the university-wide Academic Affairs Committee, contributing to curriculum discussions and academic policy. She also supported student development through roles such as faculty coach for the Horse Judging Team and earlier as Head Coach of the K-State Equestrian Team.
