ABOUt

Susan Metzger serves as the Director of Strategic Interdisciplinary Program Development at Kansas State University. In this role, she strategizes with the Executive Vice President on institutional planning, policy development, and problem resolution. She serves as a strategic liaison to achieve the goals and priorities of the Office of the President and builds and leverages formal and informal local, regional, and national relationship networks to develop integrated and innovative agricultural programs at Kansas State University. She also serves as the Director for the Kansas Water Institute (KWI) and the Institute for Digital Agriculture and Advanced Analytics (ID3A). Prior to joining K-State, Dr. Metzger served as deputy secretary of the Kansas Department of Agriculture, where she led the agency's policy evaluation and development related to water and natural resources. Before joining the department, she worked for the Kansas Water Office for 11 years as chief of planning and policy, manager of the watershed coordination unit and as an environmental scientist. She also was instrumental in developing the Vision for the Future of Water Supply in Kansas. Dr. Metzger has a B.S. in Biological Sciences/Botany from the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia, a M.S. in Biological Sciences/Wetland Sciences from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, and a Ph.D. in Leadership Communication from Kansas State University.
