Ramasamy Perumal

Ramasamy Perumal, PhD, is a Professor of Sorghum and Pearl Millet breeding at Kansas State University. With 15 years of prior faculty experience at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University and 28 years of classical and molecular breeding experiences in sorghum and millet breeding both at Texas A&M University as Research Scientist and Faculty at Kansas State University (KSU).  He is the recipient of The Rockefeller Foundation Postdoc Fellow, Fulbright Specialist, KSU-Outstanding Dedication to Graduate Student Mentoring, and Association of Agricultural Scientists of Indian Origin (AASIO)-Outstanding Agricultural Scientist Awards. He has developed molecular markers and diagnostic probes for sorghum fungal diseases and contributed to the release of multiple sorghum, hyacinth bean, and soybean cultivars.
