For several years, my professional career focused on child welfare, where I worked with children and families involved in the foster care system. This experience provided me with a strong foundation in supporting children in foster care and advocating for their well-being and permanency.
I later discovered my passion for teaching while serving at Cloud County Community College as an adjunct teacher. In addition, I educated and trained individuals and families interested in becoming foster and/or adoptive parents. This experience strengthened my commitment to education and to preparing individuals to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families.
I currently serve as a Social Work Instructor at Kansas State University where I have the opportunity to educate and mentor the next generation of social work professionals. My teaching and professional interests continue to center on social work education, child welfare, research, and preparing students to effectively serve individuals, families, and communities.
I earned my Bachelor of Social Work degree from Kansas State University and subsequently completed my Master of Social Work Administration degree at the University of Kansas. In April 2022, I earned my Doctorate in Educational Leadership with a specialization in Curriculum and Instruction, from the University of Phoenix.
My professional journey- from child welfare practitioner to social work educator - has shaped my commitment to empowering students, supporting families, and strengthening the social work professional through education and advocacy.
