ABOUt
Megan McCoy, Ph.D., LMFT, AFC(R), CFTTM, is Program Chair and Associate Professor in the Department of Personal Financial Planning at Kansas State University. Her work focuses on the intersection of financial planning, financial therapy, and relational and emotional well-being. Drawing on her training as a marriage and family therapist, she studies how financial stress, trust, communication, anxiety, family dynamics, and life transitions shape financial decision-making and client outcomes. Her scholarship includes research on financial therapy, financial anxiety, financial socialization, client-planner relationships, gender in financial planning, and resilience. She has published widely in leading journals, secured external grant funding, and is committed to advancing both academic research and practice in ways that support individuals, families, students, and financial professionals.
