Marcellus Caldas

Dr. Caldas is an environmental geographer specializing in the interaction of social, economic, and environmental processes. His works focuses on how the behavioral attitudes of agents shape and affect environmental outcomes. To investigate these dynamics, he employs a mixed-methods research strategy that combines qualitative and quantitative approaches, drawing on data collected through field investigations, household surveys, and key informant interviews. His contributions have been recognized with several prestigious honors. In 2013, he received the International Educators of the Year Award. In 2022, he was named a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Sciences (AAAS) and was presented with the ENLACES Award by the Conference of Latin American Geographers. In 2026 he received the K-State Roots of Research recognition.
