Dr. Benavides’s scholarship advances liberatory approaches to leadership, community engagement, and locally led community change. His scholarship leverages critical, decolonial, and participatory methodologies that center community voices and foster reciprocal partnerships. He is especially interested in examining how learning and development interventions informed by collective and adaptive leadership frameworks can catalyze sustainable shifts in systems.
