Sim Jun

My teaching record reflects a strong commitment to student learning, mentorship, and instructional innovation. I have taught core and elective courses in research methods, macro practice, global social work, and aging across multiple instructional modalities including in-person, hybrid, and online formats, developing new courses and revitalizing previously inactive courses. Student evaluations consistently demonstrate high ratings in teaching effectiveness, organization, and engagement. My teaching has been recognized through several awards, including the Ron Gaches Teaching Award, Highlighted Teacher, and Professor of the Week recognition by the Teaching and Learning Center and Faculty Senate. I am recently nominated for the University Distinguished Faculty Award for Mentoring of Undergraduate Students in Research. I mentor approximately 30-35 undergraduate students each semester and have supported over 100 students in graduate school preparation, professional development, and research activities. My mentorship has contributed to student achievements such as the Kirmser Undergraduate Research Awards, participation in the McNair Scholars Program, and involvement in undergraduate research initiatives. I also supervise graduate student research projects and serve on doctoral committees, contributing to advanced scholarly training.
