ABOUt
Phil Vardiman is an Associate Professor at Kansas State University School of Health Sciences in the College of Health and Human Sciences. His research focus is the human response to exercise and therapeutic clinical interventions on muscle quality and physical performance measures. Most recently adding 3D motion capture analysis to his research expertise.
Dr. Vardiman is a Certified and Licensed Athletic Trainer and has been teaching in higher education athletic training programs for 28 years. He remains clinical engaged as the Team Lead Athletic Trainer Spotter for the National Football League at Arrowhead Stadium and also serves as a Football Medical Observer for the Big XII Conference. Dr. Vardiman volunteers as an Athletic Trainer with K-State Rodeo; specifically coordinating Sports Medicine hands on learning opportunities at the annual K-State Rodeo. Dr. Vardiman also volunteers as an Athletic Trainer for the 1st Infantry Division's Best Ranger, 10-miler and Best SAPPER competition teams. Vardiman has served on the USA Track and Field sports medicine staff for multiple world championship teams, the 2016 Olympic Team in Rio and the Director of Sports Medicine for USA Track and Field at the Pan American Games in 2019 in Lima, Peru.
Dr. Vardiman is currently the Past-President for the Kansas Athletic Trainers' Society and serves on the National Athletic Trainers' Association's Executive Council for Education. He serves at K-State as the co-chair of the Faculty Senate Committee on Technology. Dr. Vardiman also serves his local community by volunteering with fundraising efforts with Special Olympics and serving as a Safety Team Leader at Rock Hills Church in Manhattan.
During his free time, he enjoys spending time outdoors in the beautiful flint hills with his family, wife Bethany, and his daughters Rylie and Hailey and his dog Lilly.
