ABOUt

Jeffrey Zamostny studies the culture and literature of early twentieth-century Spain through the lenses of gender, sexuality, celebrity, fandom, popular culture, and Digital Humanities. He is co-editor with Susan Larson of the volume Kiosk Literature of Silver Age Spain: Modernity and Mass Culture (Intellect, 2017), co-editor with Dolores Romero López of the volume Towards the Digital Cultural History of the Other Silver Age Spain (Peter Lang, 2022), and translator into English of Elena Fortún's novel Oculto sendero/Hidden Path (Swan Isle Press, 2021). His articles appear in journals including Feminist Modernist Studies, Journal of Spanish Cultural Studies, MLN, Mediodía: Revista Hispánica de Rescate, Hispanófila, and Revista de Estudios Hispánicos. He has also published numerous chapters in volumes organized by the Spanish research team La Otra Edad de Plata (Universidad Complutense de Madrid), for which he directed a collection of Silver Age Spanish kiosk literature in Mnemosine: Biblioteca Digital de La Otra Edad de Plata. Zamostny serves on the Fulbright US Program National Screening Committee (2024-2026). Prior to joining Kansas State University as Head of the Department of Modern Languages (2024-), he served as Spanish faculty (2012-2024) and Director of the Office of Undergraduate Research at the University of West Georgia (2022-2024). He holds a PhD in Hispanic Studies from the University of Kentucky (2012) and a BA in Spanish with a minor in Classical Civilizations from McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland (2007). Zamostny also studied in the Middlebury College Summer Spanish School (2004) and the Universidad de Salamanca (2005-2006).
