J. Spencer Clark

J. Spencer Clark is a Professor in the Department of Curriculum & Instruction at Kansas State University, where he has been a faculty member since 2016. His work sits at the intersection of curriculum theory, civic education, rural education, and the history of education, with a unifying focus on how teachers and students develop agency within complex educational contexts. Clark holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction from Indiana University, an M.Ed. from Rockhurst University, and a B.A. from the University of Kansas, and began his career as a classroom teacher in the Kansas City area. He has held academic leadership roles at Kansas State University and California State University Channel Islands, including Director of the K-State Rural Education Center and Acting Dean of the School of Education at CSUCI, and is a recipient of K-State's most prestigious graduate teaching honor, the Commerce Bank & W.T. Kemper Foundation Distinguished Graduate Faculty Award.
