Dr. Ellis is professor and head for the Department of Communications and Agricultural Education. Prior to his administrative role, Dr. Ellis was a faculty member with the Agricultural Communications and Journalism program and had an appointment with the Kansas State University Agricultural Experiment Station where his focus included effective communications, issues management and crisis communications to help develop, complement, and maintain a technology transfer system that communicates food safety information. He has experience working with food safety in all aspects of the food chain, from producer through foodservice to the consumer. He worked with two federal grants related to food safety. One focused on reducing E. coli presence in the beef supply chain and the other was developing a pipeline for identifying solutions to a bacterial disease that is decimating the U.S. citrus industry. Jason also worked with a USAID Feed the Future Innovation Lab on reducing grain losses post-harvest in Guatemala and Bangladesh.
