ABOUt

Dr. Jason Barrett-Fox is Associate Professor of English (Rhetoric & Writing Studies) in the College of Technology & Aviation, specializing in rhetorics of technology, rhetorics of health and medicine, feminist rhetorics, Kansas's radical socialist history, rhetorics of silent cinema, posthumanism and the new materialisms, as well as American pragmatism and the philosophy of Charles S. Peirce. Winner of the 2013 Outstanding Dissertation Award from the American Society for the History of Rhetoric and the Elizabeth Flynn Award for Best Article on Feminist Rhetorical Theory in the Field of Rhetoric, Dr. Barrett-Fox's essays and reviews have appeared in the Quarterly Journal of SpeechRhetoric ReviewPeitho, Technology & Culture, Rhetoric Society Quarterly, the Midwest Review, the American Journal of Semiotics, and numerous peer-reviewed collections, including Women at Work: Rhetorics of Gender and Labor in the U.S., Reinventing (with) Theory in Rhetoric and Writing Studies, Posthuman Praxis in Technical Communication, and the upcoming Philosophy: Technology: Rhetoric. His first monograph, Untimely Women: Radically Recasting Feminist Rhetorical History, was published by Ohio State University Press in 2022. Dr. Barrett-Fox is currently at work on projects in the rhetoric of health and medicine and on the philosophy of Charles S. Peirce as rhetorical resource.
