ABOUt
Dr. Ellyn Mulcahy is a Professor in the department of Diagnostic Medicine and Pathobiology, Director of the Public Health Program, and holds the Dr. James B. Nichols Master of Public Health Professorship in Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University. Dr. Mulcahy completed a bachelor’s degree in Microbiology from University College Cork in Ireland. Dr. Mulcahy then pursued her PhD at Creighton University in Nebraska, studying Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies, a group of infectious neurological diseases of humans and animals, including Chronic Wasting Disease in deer, elk and moose. Dr. Mulcahy's interests in infectious diseases led her to enroll in a Master of Public Health program at the University of Kansas Medical Center while completing her post-doctoral training in HIV neuroinvasion. In her current role, Dr. Mulcahy directs the Master of Public Health program at K-State, teaches Public Health, and supports public health partners. Dr. Mulcahy is also an editorial board member of the One Health Newsletter.
