Associate Dean
K-State Olathe
ABOUt
As Associate Dean for Faculty, Research, and Administration, I am a member of the leadership team which is dedicated to building new paradigms of interdisciplinary and integrated research and education, leading new program development on the undergraduate and graduate levels, and facilitating research and engagement through academic, industry, government, and community partnerships. Will also engage in teaching and research activities with an Associate Professor appointment within the College of Applied and Professional Studies.
Before joining K-State Olathe, I was the Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences at Avila University in Kansas City, MO. In this role, I oversaw a wide array of academic programs including STEM, Allied Health Sciences, Business, Education, Nursing, Psychology, Performing Arts, Social Sciences, Humanities, and Visual Communications. My focus was promoting academic excellence, innovation, and collaboration among our faculty, staff, and students.
Before Avila, I was a Senior Field Service Engineer at Waters Corporation where I worked with many clients to repair and update chromatography and mass spectrometry systems.
My first appointment in higher education was at Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) where my teaching responsibilities were centered around analytical chemistry and instrumental methods, with a special focus on mass spectrometry, catering primarily to chemistry and forensic science majors. My lab sessions involved hands-on training in the maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of chemical instruments. Beyond teaching, I engaged in research focused on developing mass spectrometry methods with ambient ionization and chromatography for various analytical applications. My leadership experience at EKU includes roles as the Undergraduate Research Coordinator, Associate Chair, and ultimately Chair of the Department of Chemistry.
Additionally, I hold a professional certificate in the business of craft beer and have completed certifications in nonprofit leadership and online learning. These qualifications underscore my dedication to interdisciplinary education, quality assurance, and the pursuit of lifelong learning.
