Craig McGill

Dr. McGill teaches graduate courses in academic advising and qualitative research, working with master's and doctoral students across programs in higher education and student affairs. His teaching emphasizes the integration of theory, research, and practice, preparing students to think critically about their roles as educators, advisors, and scholars. Drawing on nearly a decade of experience as a primary-role academic advisor, he brings applied insight into the classroom to connect learning to the realities of professional practice. A central component of Dr. McGill's work is mentoring and advising graduate students. He serves as a major professor and dissertation committee member for doctoral students and mentors master's students through capstone projects, theses, and professional development. His advising focuses on helping students develop strong methodological foundations particularly in qualitative research while also supporting the formation of their professional and scholarly identities. Through both teaching and advising, Dr. McGill is committed to fostering reflective practitioners and emerging scholars who are equipped to contribute meaningfully to higher education and the field of academic advising.
