Brian Olson

An experienced leader and manager who has focused on finding solutions for farmers in water limited environments, Dr. Olson received his M.S. and Ph.D. from Kansas State University in Weed Science. After graduation, Brian accepted a position with Kansas State University as a Multi-County Agronomist and then as the Northwest Area Agronomist where he earned the rank of Associate Professor. In 2011, Brian took the opportunity to join Bayer Crop Science to provide leadership on kochia resistance management. A few years later, Dr. Olson became the Learning Center Manager for the Water Utilization Learning Center near Gothenburg, NE which focuses on researching the best ways to manage water in both dryland and irrigated production systems and educating area farmers on those practices. In 2022, Brian returned to Kansas State University and assumed the role as Department Head for the Western Kansas Research-Extension Centers which are located near Hays, Garden City, Tribune, and Colby.
