    Funded primary source research into the 1919-1922 Franco-Turkish conflict. The project argues that French intelligence agencies, military leaders, and diplomats misunderstood their Turkish opponents because of Orientalized views of Turkish politics. Their Orientalism caused them to misattribute Turkish actions to the machinations of other European powers, mainly Germany and Soviet Russia.

The project argues that the blog's author (A straight, white, male, American academic) exploited progressive Orientalism to convince his readers that the blog was written by a Syrian lesbian woman and that they should believe the blog's, highly inaccurate, depiction of LGBTQ life in Syria and the 2011 Syrian Revolution.
